Today I noticed she was eating something, or appearing to at least, so I asked Nick and our local prop person, Sara, what she was eating.  Neither of them knew &#8212; apparently it&#8217;s a personal prop that was added just before we opened.  <\/p>\n<p>Nick suggested, &#8220;maybe she&#8217;s schmacting&#8221; &#8212; i.e. only pretending to be eating.<\/p>\n<p>To which Steph (our light board op) says, &#8220;Well if she&#8217;s pretending to eat, wouldn&#8217;t that be &#8216;snackting?'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Not bad at all for a 10:30AM show.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, I hear the term &#8220;back acting&#8221; a lot (in the context of when it&#8217;s OK to turn upstage in a scene), but never hear it called &#8220;backting.&#8221;  If nobody has beaten me to it, I hereby coin the term.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What happens on headset stays on headset.
